The Nokia 2 was released in late 2017 and is listed as the cheapest of Android smartphones developed by the company HMD Global on behalf of Nokia. The configuration of the smartphone is close to that of the Nokia 3, while still a little lighter.
Side design also, the materials of both mobiles are identical: aluminum on the slices, a mineral glass Gorilla Corning to protect the screen and polycarbonate on the back cover.
5 inch HD screen
The touch screen is virtually the same between the Nokia 2 and the Nokia 3. This is a 5-inch display whose definition is HD (720 x 1280 pixels) for a resolution of 294 pixels per inch. So far no difference. There is one, however. The screen of the Nokia 2 is based on an LTPS slab, while that of the Nokia 3 is based on conventional IPS technology.
Snapdragon 212 from Qualcomm
Under their screens does not hide the same chipset, but two different components. The Nokia 3 MediaTek MT6737 is replaced by a Snapdragon 212 from Qualcomm on the Nokia 2. Not Cortex-A53 in this quad-core, but old Cortex-A7 clocked at 1.3 GHz.
The GPU is an Adreno 304. the chipset comes with half as much memory as in the Nokia 3, which is 1 GB of RAM and 8 GB of internal storage (expandable by microSDXC up to 128 GB extra on a dedicated port).
8-megapixel photo sensor
On the photo side, the Nokia 2’s equipment is almost the same as that of the Nokia 3, especially in the back. We find an 8-megapixel sensor with classic autofocus and LED flash.
At the front, the webcam is less sharp. Its definition is only 5 megapixels and autofocus is absent. Both sensors are able to shoot up to 720p at 30 frames per second.
4100 mAh battery
The main asset of the Nokia 2: its battery. It has a well above average capacity in the low-cost segment. Indeed, its capacity is 4100 mAh, 55% more energy than the battery of the Nokia 3. The announced autonomy is close to 20 hours in 3G communication.
The rest of the data sheet includes the usual connectivity: WiFi n, Bluetooth 4.1, FM radio (with 3.5mm jack), LTE category 4, micro USB 2.0 port, dual SIM port, mono speaker. The smartphone is running at its launch on Android 7.1.1 Nougat, but an update to Android 8.1 Oreo has been announced.
Available in three colors
The Nokia 2 measures almost the same size as the Nokia 3: 0.1 mm difference in height and width. However, given the presence of a very large battery, the thickness is much greater: 9.3 mm for the Nokia 2, against 8.5 mm for the Nokia 3. Its weight increases by 21 grams to reach 161 grams.
The Nokia 2 comes in three colors: black / gray, white/gray and black / copper.
